HEAR NEW WOLF JAW

Published:

Following their recent performance at Teddy Rocks Festival and nomination for four awards in this year’s inaugural Black Country Music Awards, Cannock blues-rock trio Wolf Jaw are thrilled to announce that they have signed a record deal with Listenable Records. Under their new label, Wolf Jaw will begin preparations to release the as-yet-unnamed follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2018 debut album ‘Starting Gun’.

“We’re really excited to be working with Listenable on the future of Wolf Jaw,” says band vocalist Tom Leighton. “It’s going to give us the opportunity to grow and really build on what we have achieved as independent artists. They have a fantastic background of growing acts just like us into something much bigger, and that’s what we’re setting out to do!”

Perhaps best known for their recent achievements in breaking French metal quartet Gojira and Dutch metalcore act Textures, Listenable Records’ other signed rock acts include the likes of Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics, Black Spiders and Electric Mary – an indication that Wolf Jaw are in good hands as they enter the next stage of their career. Formerly known as The Bad Flowers, Wolf Jaw have already enjoyed success with ‘Starting Gun’, which reached #17 in the UK Rock Chart upon release, as well as performing at Stone Free festival in London’s O2 Arena.

The Black Country trio’s signing to the French label comes ahead of a number of appearances at UK events –  including Download Festival 2019 – as well as an upcoming tour on home soil with the American rock outfit Crobot. With much to celebrate as they enter the summer months, Wolf Jaw have seen fit to share their excitement with their fans – and welcome newcomers to their bold take on the rock’n’roll genre – via the release of a brand new video single.

Rife with dirty, distorted riffs and intense blasts of vocal passion, the furiously catchy, sing-along chorus of ‘Hear Me’ can be seen as both a statement of intent in regards to their signing, and as a raucous warcry for fans to band together and “get involved”…

On the release of their latest single, Tom exclaims:

“‘Hear Me’ is the first song we wrote for our upcoming second album. It’s an outcry against not being listened to and not being understood – something that’s happened to us all at some point in our lives. In the studio, I was right up in the mic like a boxer facing off against their opponent in the ring. It was a really raw, powerful song to record. It’s not just the lyrics that are vicious, though; The riffs have some serious kick to them…perfect for rocking out to!”

‘Hear Me’ premiered on Download Festival’s website on Friday 7th June, exactly one week before this year’s event kicks off with main stage headline performances from Def Leppard, Slipknot and Tool. In yet another exciting twist, festival organisers have well and truly “set the Wolf loose” across Donington Park, ensuring that everyone will have a chance to see Wolf Jaw’s awe-inspiring riff-rock. Originally due to appear exclusively on Sunday’s Dogtooth Stage, ticket holders can also see the band performing from 8pm in the RIP village on Thursday and on Friday from 3pm on the Carlsberg Danish Quarter Stage.

Wolf Jaw are currently nominated in the Black Country Music Awards for the categories of Best Live Act,  Best Single, Best Video and Best New Wave Band. You can find more information here
