Brit originators announce plans

Trailblazing UK 5-piece HACKTIVIST have confirmed that they will be releasing their highly-anticipated debut album Outside The Box on the March 04 worldwide via UNFD (UNFD/Rise Records in the USA).

Hacktivist have been fighting their way from Milton Keynes to the mainstage since 2011 and now it’s time for the world to listen up. Outside The Box is a 12 track barrage of low-tuned riffs, street-smartrhymes with huge hooks and grooves, resulting in a powerful record with a sound that is 100% their own. Guest performances are present from Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari, Jamie Graham of Heart Of A Coward, Astroid Boys and cyber rhymer Jot Maxi; a highly diverse collection of artists only Hacktivist could bring together.

The band have also revealed a video for new track ‘Buszy’, which was premiered last night on the Radio One Rock Show.

Of the meaning behind the single, co-vocalist Ben Marvin explains:

“This song is about partying, tour life and dedication to our H team – living the life we want and not letting anything get in our way. Buszy In Milton Keynes is a place we’ve all grown up with. They used to put club nights on there and there’s also a skatepark. It also was used for community projects, but unfortunately it is being shut down by the council in another example of profit over people. We did the best we could to keep it going but our voices were unheard. We decided to name our song after it and get a video shoot booked in before it got shut down, so I want people to take away from it the fact that no matter what, you gotta do what you love and you gotta fight for what you believe in. No matter what or who is against you.”

Hacktivist have announced some intimate club shows to coincide with the release of Outside The Box, where they’ll be joined by Counting Days.

FEB 26 – NEWCASTLE – THINK TANK
FEB 27 – PETERBOROUGH – MET LOUNGE
FEB 28 – SOUTHAMPTON – JOINERS

Like antibodies that fight disease, Outside The Box is an immediate and fierce response to the world Hacktivist inhabit. It’s a conscious call to arms and the product of a unique bunch of mates that could only ever have been conceived in the neglected corners of one of the UK’s most misunderstood towns in 2016 by one of the most exciting bands around. It’s no understatement to say Outside The Box has been a long time coming – it comprises over five years’ worth of ideas that have been bubbling while the band crossed milestone after milestone, fuelled by the success of their incendiary self-titled 2013 EP.

On the back of the DIY release, Hacktivist garnered strong support from all sides of the media – Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Metal Hammer and BBC Radio 1 all amplified the message, and word soon spread to the likes of The Guardian, XFM and legendary hip-hop publication Insomniac – and spent every spare second on the road.

Mainstage appearances at Reading, Leeds and Sonisphere festivals soon followed in the UK, as well as Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park in Germany, and the miles racked up around Europe (including as special guests to Korn in 2014) mean that the support accorded to the H grows wherever necessary. In March, for example, they’ll play to almost a thousand in Budapest.
