Innovative Irish trio Chasing Abbey have released Greedy Pigs, the searing new single from their new album Cyber Celt set for release on 18 September and available to pre-order now on limited edition coloured vinyl, black vinyl, CD and download. The accompanying Cyber Celt World Tour begins at Dublin Vicar Street on 17 September and takes in extensive dates across the UK, Europe and the US – many of which are already sold out – before ending in Perth, Australia on 14 December.

From Tullamore in the heart of Ireland, Chasing Abbey are Ronan Bell, Jonathan Byrne and Ted Conway. The trio fuse traditional Celtic instrumentation with modern electronic production and with Cyber Celt they can be positioned alongside peers such as Kneecap, Lankum and Madra Salach, artists who use the beautiful language of Gaeilge to deliver their lyrics with maximum weight.

Greedy Pigs has elements of the righteous fury of Fontaines D.C. as it blends Gaeilge and English to powerful effect in a track written about the insatiable greed of the masters of the modern world.

When I was a teenager I worked in a butchers,” recalls Ted.I always noticed there was one pig that bullied the rest and ate the majority of the food. His greed could not be satisfied. Ironically, he was fast tracking himself to the slaughterhouse and I watched in terror and amazement as he guaranteed his demise through pre greed. I realised that greed must be a bad thing and no good can come of it and it stuck with me. I see a lot of parallels in today’s world – greed for the sake of it, greed that cannot be satisfied or quenched and the song draws on those observations.

Greedy Pigs follows the lead single SeachainWATCH – a powerful track in spired by their generation’s exposure to war crimes and genocide. Never before have so many people consumed so much trauma and this song is a reminder to watch out and never allow evil to be normalised, explain the band.

Of Cyber Celt, the band state: Our philosophy in the studio is to create an environment that allows play and experimentation to exist, no right or wrong and no rules. Cyber Celt represents that idea of freedom and all of the songs on this album fell out of a subconscious flow state where we were just having fun.

Chasing Abbey have spent a decade building a strong following both in Ireland and internationally, earning awards and multiple-platinum records at home while selling out world tours and reaching a million followers online. Their live show is just as much a spiritual awakening as it is a concert performance – soaring energy mixed with a message of unity and social justice that drives home the feeling that this is not just a show. This is a movement that Chasing Abbey are leading internationally.
