Hollowstar’s highly anticipated eponymous debut album has been announced, arriving on 3 May 2019. The announcement comes hot on the back of a busy and successful year for the band, a year which saw them touring alongside the likes of Graham Bonnet Band and Dan Reed Network as they brought their signature sound to fans new and old around the country. The first single from the album, ‘All I Gotta Say’, picked up plays on both BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show and Planet Rock before the band followed up with their second single, ‘Let You Down’. Hailed by Classic Rock Magazine as “muscular modern hard rock… bold chunky production [and] riffs the size of monster trucks’, the track has not only been playlisted by Planet Rock, but also deservedly featured in both Planet Rock Magazine and Classic Rock’s Heavy Rotation.
With a national headline tour soon to be announced and appearances at festivals including Giants of Rock, Hard Rock Hell and Winter’s End confirmed, 2019 will see them spread their wings and truly cement their position in the UK rock scene. You can also catch them live supporting the incredible Stone Broken as part of the latter’s UK album tour throughout February.
‘Hollowstar’ is available from the band’s website (www.hollowstar.uk), with various formats and pre-order bundles on offer. The band said, “We’ve drawn on our own collective experiences as a band and what we’ve learned on the road with people like Graham Bonnet Band, Dan Reed and more to create something that we feel is truly unique. We’re proud of the album and can’t wait to bring this new music to even more fans in 2019.”
The Hollowstar sound is driven by vocalist and bassist Joe Bonson, his brother Jack on drums, and the dual lead guitarists Phil Haines and Tom Collett. Hollowstar’s lyrics are equal parts catchy and meaningful, creating powerful and memorable songs that reflect the band’s classic rock influences whilst showcasing a distinct modern flair. Citing Thunder, Slash and Black Stone Cherry among their biggest inspirations, the band’s highly honed music and Joe’s impressive pipes are entrenched in classic rock, yet rather than just idly regurgitating their influences, the Hollowstar sound is decidedly fresh and ingrained with their own personality.
‘Hollowstar’ is the sound of a band poised for their breakthrough. As Planet Rock said, “Hollowstar are the kind of band that exudes so much shimmering potential that you’re reassured the future of rock music could well be in safe hands.” Believe it.
