Bathory cover online now

Danish metal phenom MYRKUR has just shared a new track from her forthcoming acoustic / live EP Mausoleum (out this August 19). “Song To Hall Up High,” originally by Bathory, has been re-worked and wholly transformed by MYRKUR and has premiered at Metal Hammer, who called the rendition “a gauntlet thrown down to the foes, but one wrapped in finest gossamer, and more true to the transcendent, spirit-channelling nature of black metal than any number of self-appointed grimness-wardens bashing away at their keyboards.”

Additionally, you can hear the first EP single “Jeg er guden, I er tjenerne” now here:

On the one-year anniversary of her critically-acclaimed, masterful debut full-length, M, Danish black metal artist MYRKUR unveils a captivating live recording from the historic Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, Norway. Aptly titled Mausoleum, the album features beautifully dramatic & stripped-down acoustic reinventions of seven songs from plus one brand new song and a Bathory cover; all accompanied by the Norwegian Girls Choir and Håvard (ex-Ulver) on guitar. Captured in a cold, dimly-lit tomb covered in morbid frescos that depict the circle of human life from conception til death, Mausoleum is an incredible showcase of MYRKUR’s sublime yet haunting voice in a truly chilling, unrivaled atmosphere.

Mausoleum is due out this August 19 on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse. Physical pre-orders are available at this location, and digital versions can be pre-ordered viaMYRKUR‘s Bandcamp here.
