UK Country Pop trio The Adelaides are set to make available their jaw-dropping version of ‘Sanctuary’ which was recorded as a duet with Charles Esten on his October 2019 UK tour. The track will be made available today, 13 March 2020, the date on which the band were due to reunite with Charles to perform together once more at Esten’s C2C appearance on the main stage at London’s O2 Arena.

The Adelaides said, “We are so disappointed that C2C has been cancelled in light of the Covid-19 virus concerns which, sadly for us, means we won’t be appearing with Charles Esten on the main stage to perform our single ‘Sanctuary’. It is a real shame but, of course, we can understand why the festival had to cancel.  We love performing this song, it’s truly special to us and to perform it live on the C2C stage with Charles Esten would have been a dream come true.  We’ve performed many times with him now, both across the UK and in Nashville, and this particular recording captures the warmth of the fantastic connection we have with him. It’s a special version of a wonderful song and we are delighted to share it. We look forward to getting back onstage soon and performing it”.

Indeed, fans will still get the opportunity to hear The Adelaides perform the track when they step in to join Bob Harris on his impromptu Country Show broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 this Saturday between 8:00pm – 11:00pm.

Charles Esten came to be known in the U.K. in the role of Deacon Claybourne on the hit TV show NASHVILLE. He has since been making a name for himself in the country music world, as well. According to Esten, “When I was preparing for my January 2019 UK tour, I was looking for a support act that might be able to sing a few ‘Nashville’ songs with me during my set. The moment I heard The Adelaides and their gorgeous harmonies, I knew I was done looking. We ended up performing more than a couple songs together in every show, both from ‘Nashville’ and from my own catalogue.   When I returned in October with a full band, I knew we had to do it again. And I’m so glad we did. This live recording of one of my very favourite ‘Nashville’ songs, ‘Sanctuary’, has somehow captured all of the magic that they brought to every stage we ever sang on.”

Since Charles Esten‘s first appearance on the C2C Spotlight Stage in 2016, he has toured multiple times in the U.K., both with the NASHVILLE TOUR and as a solo act, appearing in such venues as the O2 Arena and Royal Albert Hall.  His current solo single, A ROAD AND A RADIO, has been streamed over 500,000 times and is available on all major platforms.

Last year saw The Adelaides elevated to the biggest showcase in Country Music, when they performed at CMA Fest in Nashville. The band are a formidable live act and have just finished a set of support slots with Kiefer Sutherland and are now confirmed to support Home Free on four UK dates in March.  The Adelaides have performed twice at British Summer Time in Hyde Park supporting Michael Bublé and Celine Dion and numerous festivals including Long Road FestivalRamblin’ Man, CornburyNashville Meets LondonThe British Country Music Festival, Hard Rock Country and Black Deer Festival together with their own headline shows.

The Adelaides are: vocalist / guitarist Paris Georgia, vocalist Alicia Alba and vocalist / guitarist Abi Phillips.  A young band, in every sense, The Adelaides nonetheless hark back to the old time Country traditions of talent, truth and integrity.   The girls’ self-penned originals, great tracks often emerging from Nashville writing sessions, are winning them new fans wherever they go – their debut album will be released later this year.

The Adelaides have always sprinkled their sets with carefully chosen covers and this beautiful version of ‘Sanctuary’, performed with one of their biggest supporters, showcases everything that makes this band so special.
