BOY. GIRL. BOTH. NEITHER. Today, BONES UK release their new single ‘Boys Will Be Girls’ and its accompanying music video. This track from the 2019 Grammy nominees explores gender binaries and how escaping these allows for complete self-expression and freedom. You can watch the video here.
Here, BONES UK nail what it means to really be a rockstar in 2021 and how you can use your platform to empower your audience, challenge the status quo, and create a community of like-minded individuals. ‘Boys Will Be Girls’ also features a note-perfect solo from guitar virtuoso Carmen Vandenberg who brings elements of classic rock and 00s garage rock to this contemporary rager. With over 18 million streams on their last project and over 100 thousand active fans across socials, the band are well on their way to making a big impact on the genre.
Speaking about the song, BONES UK say: “‘Boys Will Be Girls’ is about our lack of desire to conform to gender norms. It’s about how we (and so many others) want to be absolutely, unapologetically who we are as individuals, wear and do whatever we want… and none of that has anything to do with our sex. There are so many wonderful greys between black and white, and we love exploring all of them and this track is the opportunity to do so, moving like water through them all.”
BONES UK are also excited to announce their participation in the Riot Games launch of Arcane. The band will feature on the Netflix animated series’ soundtrack with their song ‘Dirty Little Animals’ alongside artists such as Sting, Imagine Dragons, Pusha T, Denzel Curry, and PVRIS.
