US alt rock four-piece DOMMIN have announced their third album will be titled ‘Beautiful Crutch’. Produced and mixed by the band’s namesake, Kristofer Dommin, ‘Beautiful Crutch’ will be released via DNRecords on December 22, for the winter solstice. Enigmatic frontman and guitarist Kristofer Dommin reveals, “‘Beautiful Crutch’ is another step forward in the band’s musical growth. While this is an expansion of the band’s soundscape, some of the moods will be familiar to those that fell in love with our first album.” The new songs are darker than last album ‘Rise’ but without the despair of their ‘Love Is Gone’ debut. Dommin still carries the torch of the tormented lover. ‘Beautiful Crutch’ serenades the listener with a yearning complementing the crooner’s sultry vocal and is art imitating life. The past year found members of the band deepening their personal relationships with engagements and a marriage that saw Dommin’s singer/guitarist moving to Australia. Kristofer elaborates, “The album title, ‘Beautiful Crutch’ refers to anything or anyone that helps you pull through darkness and hopelessness. Sometimes it’s an idea. Sometimes it’s faith. It can be a mantra, a song or a special person that helps you get back on your feet.”

‘Beautiful Crutch’ follows the band’s triumphant return with ‘Rise’, released for the summer solstice in 2015. The band had risen from the ashes of post-record company fallout, legal issues, and personal tragedy with a successful crowdfunding campaign. Within hours of announcing, the band smashed their fundraising target and eventually raised 11 times the goal. The results put to rest any self-doubt and illustrated the emotional connection the band had made with their fans. The release also led to a new European distribution deal.
Dommin first captivated listeners in 2010 with their debut ‘Love Is Gone’ on Roadrunner Records. Described as “the voice of the broken-hearted,” that album saw the quartet defining a new era of underground goth-inspired alt rock, influenced by the likes of The Doors, Depeche Mode, Nirvana, Rammstein, and Type O Negative. First single, ‘My Heart, Your Hands’ was lauded as iTunes ‘Song Of The Week’ upon release. Dommin hit the road supporting acts like Rob Zombie, HIM, Lacuna Coil, Volbeat, Black Veil Brides, and Bullet For My Valentine, as well as performing at international festivals including Soundwave (Australia), Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park (Germany), and Download (UK). The band then went on to pick up nominations for Best New Band and Best International Newcomer at the UK’s Metal Hammer Awards and Kerrang! Awards.
One thing is certain, Dommin’s third album clearly demonstrates the band’s growth and maturity. Kristofer’s compelling voice continues to unite all Dommin’s songs under a common identity, that aches to seduce the listener into a very personal narrative.
