Brighton-based live-wire indie-rock outfit Creeping Jean return today with Live: Business At The Barn, a raw and electrifying live EP recorded at their unofficial headquarters — a barn deep in the East Sussex countryside. The session features reimagined live versions of tracks from their acclaimed second album Business Is Dead, alongside two bold cover choices: Donna Summer’s iconic disco anthem “I Feel Love” and The Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time.”

Formed by an international cast of musicians from Sheffield, Brazil, Munich, Hull via Limoges and London, Creeping Jean have built a formidable reputation for their live show — a reputation that has earned them support slots with Rival Sons, The Sheepdogs, and sets alongside Miles Kane and Tom Rowley (Arctic Monkeys). Last month, they even drew Jimmy Page to the sold-out 100 Club show they played.

Now, Creeping Jean have bottled that live energy with a brand new EP — Live: Business At The Barn — capturing some of last year’s tunes in their rawest, most electric form, alongside a few surprise covers.

“The barn is our home turf.” — The band on recording the EP

“The barn is our unofficial headquarters,” explains guitarist Rod Bourganos. “It was within that bucolic landscape that most of our stuff was recorded. Trying to capture our increasingly electrifying live energy at the barn felt very fertile and worthwhile.”

Bassist Kirk Steaggles adds:
“People often say they love our raw, wild performances at shows, so it was great to channel some of that energy into this session.”

On the choice of covers: Donna Summer → The Rolling Stones

Rod Bourganos states romantically, “Having fallen madly in love, I couldn’t help but suggest “I Feel Love”. We also all agreed on it and hence I avoided some of the other suggestions that were on the table! Now we have a version of “I Feel Love” that we’re proud of! Might even make the set list at the new tour dates next year!”

Frontman Olly Tooze adds:
“Well, who doesn’t love a disco dancefloor banger? It came together like a dream.”

The Rolling Stones cover was equally instinctive.
“We started warming up backstage singing The Last Time a cappella while supporting Rival Sons,” Bourganos recalls. “It became part of our repertoire, so covering it was a no-brainer.”

Tooze concludes:
“A massive thanks to our producer Dan Crook for letting us invade his barn and for turning this around so quickly ahead of Christmas. We hope to air some of these covers on the road next year.”
