THERION’S CLASSICAL ROCK

Published:

In a Maximum Volume Exclusive Premiere, Therion main man Christofer Johnsson explains how his love of classical music has informed his work in the band

“I think I was three or four years old when I discovered Beethoven”.  Not many times have those words been uttered on these pages, but then, there are very few men in metal like Christofer Johnsson.

So while MV as a four-year old was probably playing the Cliff Richard or Elvis LP’s that were in the house, the mastermind behind Therion was delving into symphonies.

Which more than likely goes a long way to explaining why he’s just a week away from releasing the bands magnum opus, the three-hour operatic project Beloved Antichrist.

Here, on a video exclusively premiered on Maximum Volume Music, Johnsson talks about his lifelong love of Beethoven, why you have to take chances and how you can put whatever you like on your sandwich…..
