Ahead of a stretch of UK shows this Autumn, CHAMELEONS, will be offering a taster of what’s to come with an exclusive live session on BBC 6 Music.
Due to be broadcast Riley & Coe’s flagship show on Monday 24th August, tune-in at 9pm to hear the band in-conversation and performing live from the studio in this rare radio appearance.
The session comes as the legendary Middleton band mark 45 years since their formation and prepare to embark on a series of live dates around the nation at the tail end of this year. The October dates will be the veteran post/punk band’s third major tour in as many years, and kicks off at SWG3 in Glasgow on 20th October, before stops in Leeds, Bristol, London and Southampton throughout the month. At these shows, Chameleons will be joined by the very special guest, Lol Tolhurst. Due to play ‘The Songs of The Cure’, his set will feature early and seminal songs from The Cure’s catalogue in a sensational live show.
Now something of a pre-Christmas tradition in the city, the run of shows this year will also see Chameleons resurrect their ‘HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS…’ homecoming show for its 12th anniversary. Taking place on the 4th and 5th of December, the latest instalment will see them headline two nights at the beautifully restored 1300 capacity New Century Hall, following sold-out spells at the Albert Hall and the O2 Ritz in recent years.
Fans attending the first night of ‘HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS…’ (5th Dec), will see the band joined by fellow Mancunians Kahula on support, as well as Very Special Guests Mansfield new wave heroes B-Movie, best known for the trio of synth-led singles ‘Remembrance Day’, ‘Marilyn Dreams’ & ‘Nowhere Girl’. On the following night, the ethereal Evi Vine takes on the opening slot, alongside very special guests Kitchens of Distinction’s frontman Patrick Fitzgerald and the Manchester Camerata who will bring strings to the show. In addition, Andy Woods (Smile / Unknown Pleasures) will be hosting an after party downstairs at New Century Hall from 11pm-1am on both Friday and Saturday, with free entry for ticketholders.
