Stellar cast for charity album

THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST LIVING MISERABLY (CALM) is a registered
charity, which exists to prevent male suicide in the UK.
In 2013, male suicide accounts for 78% of all suicides and is the single biggest cause of death in men aged 20 – 45 in England and Wales.
Till Deaf Do Us Party have launched their 2nd fundraising initiative for charity C.A.L.M (The Campaign Against Living Miserably), with a 20track compilation featuring a collection of artists passionate about the charity.
The aim of the compilation is not just to make money for C.A.L.M, though every penny raised will go to help the charity’s wonderful work, but to promote the fact that mental illness is no longer a taboo, especially in men, and that people DO care and are looking out for them. All the bands involved in this compilation have a story to tell & a reason for donating a track – each one bringing an individual take on issues faced by many every day all of which are incredibly moving and poignant.
Jim from Cassels shared some words with Till Deaf Do Us Party Records:
This song was written in the wake of a particularly debilitating few days of crippling anxiety and neurosis where I became too scared to leave my flat. As is often the case for people struggling with these sorts of episodes, I failed to talk to anyone or seek help in any way. I consider myself lucky that writing songs can act as a bit of a catharsis and remedy for me, however most men aren’t so lucky. This is a great cause and a great charity, and&n bsp;we’re really happy to be contributing this track to try and help raise some money towards it.
The compilation is in its second year and follows on from a show TDDUP put together on a barge in Battersea with The Xcerts, Ric from Tall Ships, Sam Duckworth, Katie Malco & Matt Emery. You can watch the video here: LINK
Murray from the Xcerts has worked alongside the charity for several years, and is a strong ambassador for the cause. He says:
“We are really delighted to be a part of the new CALM compilation. I first discovered CALM a couple of years ago when they approached me about another project i was involved with and i knew pretty much instantly that they were a charity i wanted to be involved with. The male suicide rate in the UK alone is absolutely terrifying and raising awareness for something as serious as this, is something that myself and the band will continue to do for as long as we can. CALM is a charity that does amazing work and exists to prevent young men taking their lives. Their charity and campaign is something everybody should be getting behind.”
