Ahead of his performance at Ealing Blues Festival, Son of Dave announces new blues belter “You Keep On Buying It”.
Son of Dave, aka Benjamin Darvill, is not your average bluesman. A truly independent artist, Son of Dave has released eight albums over his rich 20-year career, including collaborations with production legend Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, The Breeders). Many will also recognise Son of Dave’s tunes through programs like Breaking Bad, Preacher, Bloodline, which have helped propel his records to millions of fans.
Originally from Winnipeg Canada, Son of Dave started out as a young harmonica player, touring the Blues and biker bars of Manitoba, before joining Grammy-nominated folk-rock group Crash Test Dummies. Now based in London, he has carved his own unique path through the blues music of the 21st century; infectiously weaving together songs on the harmonica with beatbox grooves, powerful percussive elements and infectious lyrics.
Now, following much anticipation, Son of Dave has teased the date of his new single “You Keep On Buying It” — the second collaborative work by Son of Dave and his drummer/producer pal Jamie Morrison (Stereophonics, Noisettes).
Telling of a world of liars that seemingly half of the population can’t get enough of (no second guesses here), it promises to be a true harmonica blues belter and will be released on 19 July.
You can catch Son of Dave performing his new single live the following day — 20 July — as part of his headline slot at Ealing Summer Festival, where he performs alongside the award-winning Kyla Brox, soulsters MACK (feat. Tommy Hare) and Tommy Allen’s Trafficker.
Expect even more releases to come from this one-man blues band, whose out-of-the-box explorations continue to take him where no other Bluesman can reach, even with long fingernails.
