BOKASSA are back in style on brand new single ‘Doesn’t Matter If You Love It Here’. The song is a melodic stoner rock banger with a metallic edge and a desert vibe, perfect for a long road trip, a chill day in the sun, or even ready to rage on a Friday night. Never afraid to break new ground, the track offers a different side to the band vocally whilst still filled with air guitar-friendly riffs and an ear worm of a chorus.

The Norwegian stoner punks have this to say about their new single:

“‘Doesn’t Matter If You Love It Here’ is a song about something running its course and being beyond saving. Sort of like the relationship between humans and the natural resources on this earth, which has taken its toll because of our negligence.”

The song is produced, engineered, and mixed by 2x Grammy winner Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, The Darkness) and mastered by George Perks (Don Broco, Enter Shikari). It was recorded in England’s Otterhead Studios in March 2026.

The accompanying music video sees the band hosting bass player auditions that end rather tragically (and bloodily). The video has a grindhouse-ish look and a vibe reminiscent of movies such as “Bad Taste” and is a homage to the slasher B-movies of the 70s and 80s, as Kaarstad explains:

“I love scary movies and campy ’70/’80s horror has a special place in my heart. They are often as goofy as they are scary, so we wanted to make something in a similar vein (no pun) and I think we succeeded!”

The track is out now on the band’s own label, Kings of Stonerpunk Records. Frontman Jørn Kaarstad is very excited to finally be releasing music themselves again:

“We’ve always been a band who do a lot of things ourselves, and have had that DIY spirit intact ever since I booked our shows the first five years of our existence (yes even the Metallica tour). We’ve always had a dream of doing it ourselves again, and are very excited to finally have taken that leap with our new single.”

To coincide with the single release, BOKASSA are embarking on summer tours with groove rock-legends Clutch in Spain and France, and skatepunk veterans Lagwagon for several dates in Germany. The band will also be performing at select festival dates in Norway this summer.
