NEW HEADLINE UK + EU TOUR DATES FOR 2027
BOKASSA returns with a bang, on ferocious new single “Cop Out”, a no-nonsense barn burner set to please fans of the band’s harder outputs. The song sees the band firing on all cylinders and leaning into their metallic hardcore roots with a dash of trash metal. “Cop Out” is a non apologetic track inspired by everything from hearing protest songs with lyrics so broad that they’ll apply to all sides, to seeing bands that should’ve called it quits years ago – still squeezing out money from fans.
“It’s about quitting while you’re ahead, before you become something you despise. Before you start doing expensive VIP Meet & Greets, before you write lyrics that are just empty buzz words, before you start doing Tik Tok-dance videos to sell more tickets. I don’t wanna spend my time coming up with new ways to get views on social media, when I know that there are still different pizzas out there I haven’t tried yet,” says vocalist Jørn Kaarstad.
That could be one of many reasons that the power trio in 2026 releases music under their own label Kings of Stonerpunk Records, where they’ve released several titles since their inception, including their universally acclaimed debut Divide & Conquer back in 2017.

Alongside the new single, BOKASSA also announces their new album Anomalies, a fitting title for a band who never quite fit in anywhere. The band’s nonstop blend of different subgenres in punk, metal and rock, into their own stonerpunk, has seen the band touring with bands as diverse as Clutch, Lagwagon, Therapy?, Zebrahead and Mastodon. The same genre blending has also made them hard to pigeonhole. In a world where people tend to like bands and artists that sound quite similar to other bands and artists they like – BOKASSA sound mostly like themselves.
“I don’t wanna be a “We got McDonald’ at home” version of an older, better band. I see bands becoming universally acclaimed for that, and it’s probably smart to do so for commercial success, but then again we’ve never been a band known for smart decisions. So we’ll stick to what we think is exciting,” says Kaarstad.
Their new album Anomalies will see the band embark on a tour through Europe, UK and their native Norway, coinciding with the album release in March 2027. The follow up to 2024’s critically acclaimed All Out Of Dreams is produced by none other than two time Grammy winner Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, The Darkness) and mastered by George Perks (Enter Shikari, Skindred). The band’s love for mixing genres has always placed them a little off the beaten track, which is why they feel Anomalies is a fitting title for their new album.
“We’ve never really fit in with anyone,” says Kaarstad. “So we kinda just evolved into our own little entity. It’s become a ‘those who get it get it’ kinda thing and I’ve seen fans bond at shows over their shared love of our band, which is really cool.”
Every song on the band’s fifth album continues to show BOKASSA‘s diversity. The power trio seamlessly transitions from groove metal, desert rock, scandirock, death metal, hardcore punk and hard rock to powerpop, all while maintaining the band’s unique sound and knack for ear worms. Frontman Jørn Kaarstad pushes himself vocally as well with everything from soft clean vocals, hardcore screams to low death metal growling, while tackling lyrical topics that range from state coupes, defectors to the very real possibility of the world ending. And leprechauns. A combination which makes Anomalies a very exciting full length from a band who never stop challenging themselves. As heard on the trashy metallic hardcore on latest single “Cop Out” to the more mellow, almost dreamy, stoner rock approach in first single “Doesn’t Matter If You Love It Here”. The album’s title also reflects on the band’s origin story, which is far from traditional.
“We didn’t have a booking agency, label, manager or any contacts and suddenly we were playing the world’s biggest stages. The way the music industry works in Norway, or the rest of the world for that matter, we shouldn’t have had a chance. So as far as I’m concerned we’ve always been an anomaly”, shares Kaarstad.
The new full length hits stores 12th March 2027 and can be pre-ordered on limited vinyl and CD here.
