Birkenhead-born newcomer TY FREEMAN is delighted to reveal his new single ‘Monareen’, set for release on 19th November 2025 via all good digital service providers.
Recorded at Kempston Street Studios in Liverpool, produced by Chris Taylor (The Coral, She Drew The Gun, Bill Ryder-Jones) and mastered by Graeme Lynch, ‘Monareen’ blends analogue warmth with soulful restraint. Its heartbeat comes from the chemistry of a live band; musicians who play with the sensitivity of storytellers rather than session players.
‘Monareen’ is a soul-drenched, slow-burning confession—a song about love that survives endings and distance. Its title comes from the Arabic phrase “Monareen” (منورين), meaning “two moons”, a poetic term of affection used by Freeman’s ex partner when describing two souls who illuminate each other’s world in-between love letters they were sending to one another during their break up.
Written between Zurich and Liverpool, the single captures the ache of separation and the quiet gravity that pulls two people together even when they’re apart. It’s as intimate as a whispered letter and as vast as the night sky, built on smoky guitars, trembling harmonica, and Freeman’s raw, unguarded vocal performance.
Commenting on the track, he says: “I came across the word ‘monareen’ while writing letters to someone I loved deeply. It felt like the perfect image: two moons caught in each other’s orbit, reflecting the same light even when they’re on opposite sides of the sky. That’s when the song became a kind of love letter that keeps glowing in the dark.”
Ty Freeman is a Merseyside-born, Liverpool-raised musician fast making a name for himself with raw vocals, a vintage tone, and an electrifying stage presence. From a turbulent childhood to pursuing his first solo project after years of musical exploration, Freeman’s journey is carved into every note he plays.
Raised in foster care, he found salvation through music, first honing his craft relentlessly guerilla gigging on the streets of Liverpool, and then in bars and clubs from Liverpool to Hamburg to Zurich. Now based in the latter for the long-term, he has already secured a reputation as a dynamic live act with an unbreakable spirit, ready to step out from the underground and onto the world’s big stages.
In 2025, his story came full circle when Ian Skelly and Paul Duffy of The Coral—once his childhood heroes—became his bandmates in the studio. Alongside producer Chris Taylor (Blossoms, Miles Kane, The Lathums), they recorded his forthcoming debut collection of tracks at Kempston Street Studios in Liverpool.
“In the studio, my head can get five steps ahead—ideas firing everywhere. But Ian, Paul, and Chris grounded me. They helped us surf the chaos without losing the spark,” enthuses Freeman of the process. “They’re probably the tightest rhythm section in the Northwest. I’d even say the UK. I’d show them a song and within a few takes, no rehearsal, they’d nail it live in the room. Paul kept things anchored with melodic bass lines while Ian and I spoke our own language—’Beatles middle 8 into a Who-style bridge, then a CCR groove.'”
The sessions became a perfect storm of instinct and precision, capturing Freeman’s ragged-edged soul, his livewire energy, and the emotional urgency that has powered every step of his journey. No click tracks. No polish. Just blood, sweat, and tape.
‘Monareen’ is the latest offering from that collection, following on from previous single ‘One Way Love’—a raw, soul-soaked slice of rock’n’roll for the misfits, the dreamers, and the survivors—and follow-up ‘Better Man’, marking a bold new chapter from one of the most authentic voices in modern rock.
Earlier this year Freeman played a sold out 200 capacity headline show at Zurich’s Dynamo Werk 21, while making his official UK live debut at London’s The Shacklewell Arms to a rapturous reception in June 2025.
He recently announced two exclusive UK shows for November 2025, including a hometown show in Liverpool on the 19th November supporting the hotly-tipped Hotel Lux (Nice Swan Records), and a London appearance at The Moth Club with fellow Scouse outfit Dream Machine (Run On Records)—tickets are on sale now, see below for listings.
