Someone once said that “There’s no point in fighting the tide. It ebbs. It flows. You ride it”, and it is a quote that just as potently fits the music of UK outfit “the *untitled”.
Their sound is indeed sonically tidal. It hits with rousing energy and virulence to sweep those before it off their feet, but within its gusto and intensity, it also brings a current of surprise that sets each song apart from another and sees the *untitled more than stand out from the crowd.
It is a proposition that equally embraces an instinctive feel-good spirit with the quartet themselves declaring that “we want to bring as many people together as possible, to just have a good time and get lost in the world of a rock show for a while.”
The foursome of vocalist Tommy Xander, guitarist Finn Arnold, bassist Joel Wesley, and drummer Emerson, draw on inspirations from artists ranging from Green Day, Foo Fighters and Sum 41 through to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Simple Plan.
They are influences that invite a slight hue of familiarity to the quartet’s music but the *untitled infuses such and all essences into a unique and fertile alt rock meets pop punk adventure that is individuality in capital letters. They and their music can be described as a force of nature, and it will soon be uncaged within the band’s self-titled debut EP.
Produced by legendary Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses) the May released EP is declaration of the band dexterity in aligning an adventure of personal songwriting with a sound that is anthemic in breath and fuelled by emotional intensity.
It gives rise to songs that show no caution in their intimacy or restraint in hope and optimism in the darkest times while contemplating universal themes like angst, rebellion, and heartbreak.
Before it’s unveiling, the band first unleash lead single “Disappear” this April 14th, a track that bears its open heart with raucous energy and an inescapable euphoric swing. With an involvement firing chorus to match, the song revels in the band’s full contagious roar and a moment that epitomises a sound as ready and able to set fire to worldwide arenas and intimate encounters alike.
