The Iron Eye are today returning to the fray with a glut of news – and new content in tow. The hard-out Brisbane rock outfit are today offering up their new single “Conscience Cleaner”, again produced by the master of big fuzz n beats rock and roll, Tom Larkin. Hand in Hand with that, they are announcing their “Cleaner Conscience” tour – which takes them to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and for the first time, to New Zealand, to Auckland and Christchurch.
The good news keeps on rolling for the band, as they have just been announced as one of three QLD finalists in the VB Hard Yards competition – where they can win cash and touring opportunities around Australia! You can vote for the band here.
The ‘Conscience Cleaner’ single will be live for purchase and streaming across all outlets from Friday July 27th.
The NZ leg of the tour was inspired by the fact that they were added to high rotation on New Zealand’s largest Rock Radio station, The Rock – and they have been planning to get there ever since.
Antonio Mancini, drummer for The Iron Eye, said that “We cannot be thankful enough to The Rock for spinning our track a bunch last year – we have had nothing but love come through from NZ, so believe me when I say, we’ve been meaning to get there as soon as we could. Stoked to be getting there now with this new track.”
Big, bold, and dirty enough to need a good clean, The Iron Eye’s latest offering “Conscience Cleaner” is a frenetic 3 minutes of fuzzed-out, self-diagnosed destruction. Producer Tom Larkin described the trio’s new sonic assault as sounding like “The Prodigy.. if they were a rock band.” with a driving rhythm section flavoured with the tones of 90’s Drum & Bass pulsating under Nick Lythall’s punchy and energetic vocals. Exploring the downward spiral of mental uncertainty wrapped up in a crazed demeanour, “Conscience Cleaner” reveals The Iron Eye unleashing in a new direction.
Antonio Mancini spoke of the struggle to actually get this song done – but how that struggle actually resulted in something extra special. “This one was tough, but oh so worth the hard work and trouble. We actually had a studio booked in QLD and we flew Tom’s engineer Jon Grace up to meet us in Brisbane. I remember walking into the studio and thinking the vibe wasn’t right for this song. Then the issues began. We started having serious problems with the desk, the monitoring and a bunch of Rack gear Jon had flown up from Melbourne. We spent a whole day trying to make it work but with no result. We left the studio that night pretty defeated and rang Tom. We told him that things weren’t working up here and that we were flying to Melbourne in the morning, which we did!- We spent the whole week doing it RIGHT at his studio Homesurgery Recordings, sleeping on the floor of the control room – the added financial and time pressure resulted in this absolute MONSTER of a track, and honestly… it was all worth it.”
The Iron Eye enjoyed a stellar 2017, both here and abroad – and this new single looks set to continue this spate of wins. Tracks from their 2017 EP were added to official Spotify playlists, enjoyed Triple J spins on Weekends with Gemma Pike and Home & Hosed, triple j unearthed radio spins, a tonne of spins on Jane Gazzo’s Triple M Homegrown, plays on the Ozmade show across the Grant radio network AND full rotation on NZ Commercial station THE ROCK. On the live front, The Iron Eye have supported the likes of Harts, DZ Deathrays, Dallas Frasca, Rival Fire, Shihad, Grenadiers and more.
