Paul and Steven Herron have been harmonising for most of their lives — a perk (or side effect) of being actual brothers. Originally from the far north-east, now based in Derby, they continue to perfect their signature blend of melancholy themes wrapped in bright, harmony-rich indie-pop charm.

Across multiple albums, EPs, and the occasional Christmas single, The Herron Brothers have developed a sound shaped by decades of pop influence — from The Everly Brothers to The Strokes, via Michael JacksonKnopfler, and The Beatles — but it’s the songwriting craft of Paul SimonNeil Finn, and R.E.M. that has guided them most.

Recent releases have earned praise from radio, including Bauer’s Chris Straw, who compared their harmonies to “the legendary Everly Brothers” and called their songwriting “packed with classic influences but totally in tune with the times.”

Their latest single, “Just Another Kick In The Face,” leads the charge into their upcoming EP The Cool Boys, arriving 28 November 2025 — a tongue-in-cheek title for a duo who know life doesn’t always play fair…

…but a great chorus can make it all worthwhile.

Because The Herron Brothers turn setbacks into sing-alongs — and honestly?

…That feels like success.

About Just Another Kick in the Face:

Earlier this year, the band found themselves acting as a “demo band” for a friend showing clients around his studio. With drummer Dan Brigstock joining them, The Herron Brothers spent two carefree days messing around with song ideas — and rediscovering just how much fun recording can be when there’s zero pressure.

That playful freedom sparked something real. After years in the music game, cynicism inevitably creeps in — and Paul channelled that frustration straight into the lyrics. It’s the classic artist dilemma: “We love this… but will anyone else care?”

As Paul puts it, “When you’re creating something exciting, of course you imagine big things — otherwise, what’s the point?”

Or, as Steven sums it up with a grin: “Basically, it’s: ‘This song could make us millions… but probably not.'”
