Hotly-tipped Mull/London-based post-rock outfit MILLION MOONS are announcing their return today with new single ‘Black Sun Rising’ set for release 14th April 2026—a scintillating glimpse of the complex new textures and enthralling world building that the band are growing into.

Following a rapturously-received set at Ripcord Festival last month, the band are also pleased to announce a run of summer UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now, plus an appearance at Crowded Festival this October (see below for listings).

Produced by Lewis Johns (Rolo Tomassi, Slow Crush, Employed To Serve, Loathe) at The Ranch in Southampton, the single is the first taste of a body of new work coming later this year that stands on the shoulders of the band’s previous two records, taking listeners on a journey that is richer, deeper, and more expansive than ever before.

“We knew this would be a single from the moment Ed shared the first demo in the group thread,” says bassist Jay Miller of the new track. “It’s got such a memorable melody, and the energy when the full band comes in is just so huge! The journey of the piece is really epic, too. It builds and builds into a huge post-rock crescendo before ending back where it begins but leaving you feeling like you’ve grown or changed along the way.”

“We gave this track its live debut at Ripcord Festival 2026 in Glasgow, and we walked away feeling that this will likely be a fan favourite moving forwards,” adds drummer Solomon Radley. “It’s a piece about nature – both how beautiful the natural world is and that feeling that the things that make it that way are quietly slipping away from us. For me, listening to it is bittersweet and cathartic at the same time.”

Rising stars in the global post-scene, recent years have seen Million Moons go from strength to strength, carving out a name for creating thoughtful, narrative-driven records that pack an emotional punch.

Their 2022 debut album, A Gap In The Clouds, told the story of a woman’s battle with Alzheimer’s, while sophomore record, I May Be Some Time, dealt with a fictional failed polar expedition and the emotions, thoughts, and feelings of those involved—named as one of the Top Five Albums of 2024 in internet post-rock bible Where Post-Rock Dwells‘ audience poll, it received rave reviews from underground tastemakers at Veil of Sound, Angry Metal Guy, Boolin Tunes, Ever Metal and more.

Appearances alongside Maybeshewill, Hidden Mothers, Tokyo Shoegazer, Overhead, the Albatross, Din of Celestial Birds, A Burial at Sea, Indifferent Engine, Codespeaker, and Hundred Year Old Man have cemented their reputation as a talent to watch closely.

From there, the band made their main stage festival debut in front of thousands of fans at Offside Festival in China, leading to a three-year deal with record label and festival organiser AnGoal which will see them return to China for more shows in 2026.

Further new music will be revealed over the coming months.
