Ohio’s one‑woman brutal death metal force Cordyceps Corpse returns with another blast of chaos, filth, and technical savagery. Today, multi‑instrumentalist Nani Porter unveils “Ishmael’s Demise”, the second single from the upcoming third full‑length “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses,” due out on October 9th, 2026 through Gore House Productions.
Cordyceps Corpse began as a raw, impulsive act of rebellion. After years of producing beats for others, Porter decided they were done waiting for a band to form. “Fuck it, I’ll do it myself,” Porter said, and the project erupted in late 2023 with its first single. Since then, Cordyceps Corpse carved out a reputation for fast, brutal, gross, gruesome family fun delivered with total DIY ferocity.
With “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses,” Cordyceps Corpse pushes their sound further into the 90s/2000s brutal death metal era, blending chaotic speed, grotesque slam riffs, and unexpected technicality into a cinematic, horror‑driven experience. Cordyceps Corpse wrote 26 songs in a month and a half, ultimately distilling the madness into 11 tracks that feel like watching a deeply disturbing movie unfold in real time.
Built around one of Cordyceps Corpse’s favorite riffs on the album, “Ishmael’s Demise” showcases a sharpened approach to contrast, structure, and technical brutality. While not sharing the lyrics publicly, the track’s title comes from a real‑life encounter with a violent individual who threatened them and a partner, a moment of fear transmuted into pure sonic vengeance.
Lyrically, “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses” marks a major shift. Cordyceps Corpse wrote full, disturbing narratives inspired by crime interrogation footage, horror films, Darby Valentine, and the grim psychology of figures like Aileen Wuornos. The album follows a supernatural, Glock‑loving, cannibalistic misandrist woman, a twisted diary of violence, empowerment, and grotesque transformation.
