When CODE:WORDS formed in Los Angeles in 2023, they didn’t arrive quietly. Their sound felt immediate and lived-in — like a band with history behind it, even from the start.

They first gained attention with their debut track “Wash the Blood,” which spread organically without a traditional rollout. Listeners discovered it, shared it, and kept coming back. In just over a year, the band’s catalogue climbed toward two million streams, driven by repeat listens and genuine fan connection rather than hype.

Fronted by John Dillon, alongside Garrett Lowery (guitar) and Max Codoceo, (drums) CODE:WORDS write from uncomfortable places — obsession, shame, control, and emotional exhaustion. Nothing is exaggerated or softened. The aim is simple: make you feel something real.

Their sound was shaped with producer Hiram Hernandez (PINKNOISE, Magnolia Park, Dark Divine), with a clear and deliberate approach — stripped back, focused, and emotionally direct.

New single: “Limerence”

Dillon explains: “It’s about being caught in the grey area between something real and something imagined — and the mental spiral that comes with infatuation and uncertainty.”
