Following the success of their previous single Repair Myself, which marked a powerful return for the band and picked up support from Kerrang! Radio, Primordial Radio, Total Rock, and prominent rock media and tastemakers, AMONGST LIARS now enter a darker, heavier chapter. Underneath The Surface pushes their sound further while retaining the driving alternative rock and modern metal influences central to their identity. Powerful guitars, electronic elements and an uncompromising rhythm section combine to deliver a track that reflects a band continuing to evolve.
Formed in 2021, the four-piece consists of Leo Burdett (guitar/lead vocals), Ross Towner (bass), Brummeo (synth/keys) and Adam Oarton (drums). Drawing influence from Royal Blood, Bring Me The Horizon and Queens of the Stone Age, AMONGST LIARS have developed a distinctive sound between alternative rock, hard rock and modern metal.
2026 marks a significant new chapter, with guitarist Leo Burdett stepping forward as AMONGST LIARS’ lead vocalist. The change has brought renewed intensity and sharper creative focus, with Underneath The Surface establishing the band’s new identity and heavier direction. Speaking about the single, Leo says: “It’s about finding the strength to restart when things haven’t gone your way. Whether it’s relationships, mistakes, setbacks or life in general, it’s a reminder that you can draw a line under it all, start fresh and give it another go if it’s worth it.”
Known for their tight and uncompromising live performances, AMONGST LIARS have shared stages with Ayron Jones, Theory of a Deadman, Dead Posey and Juliet’s Not Dead, building a reputation as a powerful and energetic live act.
With Repair Myself having reignited their momentum, AMONGST LIARS are looking firmly ahead. Underneath The Surface captures a band embracing change and pushing confidently into heavier territory.
