Acclaimed Australian actor and musician Alan Fletcher has today shared his latest single ‘Him Or Me‘ while on the final leg of his 34-date UK and Ireland tour, which kicked off with a sold-out performance at The Bedford in London in July.
Commenting on the single, Fletcher shared, “In the exploration of love in my writing for the album ‘Back to School’ I delved into a darker place where a father’s love for his son leads him to make the ultimate sacrifice.I chose to combine spoken word with melody to enhance the darkness in the song. Pleasingly this ‘murder ballad’ has had an enormous impact with audiences in a live setting”
Fletcher, best known for his iconic role as Dr Karl Kennedy on the long-running drama Neighbours, became a household name during his 30-year tenure on the show, and has established a UK career spanning over 45 years. He transitioned from rock to a solo career in Americana, Alt-Country, and Folk music in 2020, released his latest EP Let’s Talk About Love on August 14th, and plans to release more new music over the next few months.
Commenting on the EP which was produced by Lachlan Bryan and Damian Cafarella (Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes), Fletcher said, “Quite accidentally I found myself producing songs that explored aspects of love from learning to love, imaging love, remembering love and rejecting love for material gain as is explored in Table Service. This EP acts as a preview of my full album Back to School releasing later in 2025.”
Alan’s recent projects include the album THE POINT and single TELL ‘EM, a Country Music duet with his partner of 35 years and fellow bandmate, Jennifer Hansen.
