A LITTLE BITTER MILLIE

Published:

MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP have announced a new single, BITTER, and accompanying video. The single is the third to be taken from their debut album TELLING TRUTHS, BREAKING TIES due to be released on 23 October. You can watch the video for BITTER here:

To coincide with the release of BITTER, a limited-edition vest and T Shirt are now available from the band’s official website with £5 from each sale being donated to The Survivors Trust, an umbrella charity for survivors of rape and sexual abuse: https://millie-manders.com/

The two singles previously released from the album, SILENT SCREAMS and YOUR STORY, were also accompanied by limited-edition merchandise, with donations from each sale going respectively to the mental health charities Mind and Papyrus, and to NHS Charities Together.

I would like to make it clear that this song is not about my experience with rape and sexual abuse but I am a survivor, explains Millie about BITTER. “The song is about abandonment, callousness, cowardice and maltreatment, and the bitterness that arises in the wake of it. As a band, we want to support charities throughout the cycle of this album, so the charity we choose for each run of limited-edition merchandise does not necessarily correlate directly with the content of the song, but they are charities that we feel connected to personally.

BITTER is available to purchase now from iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and all usual platforms:

MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP create cross-genre punk that’s increasingly hard to ignore. With lyrics that discuss loss, betrayal, anger, anxiety, heartbreak, bitterness, environmental catastrophe and political unrest, they inspire the questioning of social norms. Fronted by Millie’s staggering vocal dexterity and backed by grinding guitars, irresistible horns and a huge amount of pop appeal, their live shows are renowned for their power and contagious energy.

The band’s full UK tour scheduled for April this year naturally had to be postponed. The dates are being rescheduled for when it’s safe to do so, and an announcement on the full tour will follow as soon as possible. In the meantime, a number of them have already been rescheduled as follows:

With extensive support from BBC Introducing and Radio X and appearances at notable festivals such as Boomtown and Rebellion, the last two years have propelled MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP into the conscience of both the public and the music industry.

And now, with the BITTER single and video; the previously released SILENT SCREAMS and YOUR STORY singles and videos; the full UK tour currently being rescheduled; the debut album coming in October; and a conscience that ensures there will be no plastic wrapping on any merchandise or release and that limited-edition artwork and clothing are raising money for health and mental health charities, MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP are striving to make a difference whilst keeping us uplifted and thoroughly entertained.
