Texas via Sheffield rockers 39th GATE OF HELL announce the release of a new single ‘Cobra’ and accompanying video filmed in Austin TX, ahead of their SXSW appearances there next month.

Now on their seventh single, ‘Cobra’ takes on a growingly familiar theme for the band of rugged individuality but is more defiant in tone than previous releases while maintaining the Gate’s stylistic penchant for haunting garage rock.

“It was originally based an aggressive rap poem I wrote then Ash, kınd of jokingly poppified it with an almost a nursery rhyme-ish melody” says asinger Ayşe ” “After playing and refining the song, it really became a little more sinister but lighter feeling at the same time.”

In addition to performing at SXSW and working on new recordings in Austin, TX and Sheffield, the band are looking toward a full album release this summer along with several festival appearances in the UK.

About 39th Gate OF Hell

Female fronted alternative rock band incorporating heavy groove, dance punk with rock guitar tones and cinematic lyrics. Holding a foot in Sheffield and Austin, 39th Gate of Hell, is a multinational trio based around Turkish-born, spoken-word artist Ayse Balkose and guitarist/singer Ash Gray from Austin, TX. Like the bar band in a David Lynch movie yet unmade, bridging the gap between Sheffield’s industrial grit and Austin’s psychedelic heat, with influences that echo Siouxie and The Banshees, The Cramps or 45 Grave crossed with New York Riot grrrl music, the group switches easily from whimsical and fun to seriously poetic subjects.
