BLUE OYSTER CULT @Ramblin’ Man Fair, Mote Park, Maidstone 25/7/15

Published:

These boys don’t fear the reaper and never will.

Since they formed in the late 1960s Blue Oyster Cult have been nothing more than classic rock.

Here, afforded a late afternoon slot and with two long-standing members in situ, the main stage is packed for the set by the Long Island veterans.

Songs like “Burning For You” make it easy to see why, while the instrumental “Buck’s Boogie” turns a field into a bar for a little while.

On the other hand “Godzilla” stomps around sounding huge and any set that includes “Don’t Fear The Reaper” pretty much writes the template for how classic rock should be done, which is rather what this 45 minutes explained. Like the last tune said “This City’s On Fire With Rock N Roll.”
