ARTIST OF THE DAY: DAR.RA

Published:

Brighton-based Irish rocker Dar.ra is back with the lead single of his new Dirty Little Secrets EP (out now). A tale of excess and love as a drug of choice, the fuzzy, soul-powered riffs of Heart-Shaped Pill’ recall Jane’s Addiction, QOTSA and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The nocturnal new track arrives with a cinematic video in which the hedonistic protagonist meet a sticky end.

Dar.ra has been around the industry block in many guises in the last two decades – as a novelist (his book of tour stories from musicians he met travelling the world, Road Tales, is out now), a songwriter and remixer for Groove Armada, Savage Garden and Tears For Fears, and a session musician/TV composer. Along the way he’s enjoyed radio airplay in the UK and Spain, and even contributed music to the cult classic movie Snakes On A Plane.
His new EP Dirty Lil Secrets is now streaming, and combines his love of hard rock guitars with funk and world music rhythms to create songs about love, society and the simple power of rock n’roll.
